Courtesy of the New Haven Advocate this week:
"Gemini (May 21 - June 20): 'Motivation will most almost always beat mere talent,' says businessman Norman R. Augustine. You've been a victim of that fact on several occaisions, Gemini. People with less skill than you have won out because they had more raw drive than you. Now I'm alerting you to the possibility that the same damn thing could happen again soon unless you take vigorous action. Please ask your imagination to come up with a batch of fresh, hot ideas for ramping up your ambition."

If I were a paranoid, auspicious or far-less dense man, I'd think that the universe were trying to tell me something... And in fact, I've been paying attention all along. It's far easier sometimes to ignore the plain bare facts in front of you, especially if you've a proven track record of avoidance. Well my faithful four readers, I hit the wall and stopped running - I've started the necessary wheels rolling to go back to school.

I had drinks w/ the ever-clever, soon-to-be-grey-again AmazonRed13 and our friend Lisa from work on Thursday night... Lisa is a clinician from our agency's HQ and someone who I was happy to discover to be amazingly cool. The topic of my former music career and schooling came out as Lisa herself earned her musical undergraduate from Sarah Lawrence, CthuluLu's alma mater. Lisa blinked at the fact that I'd never gone back to finish up the necessary rendering of garments to complete the job.

AmazonRed13 chimed in that this dialogue has been actively engaged and quickly dodged over our seven-year relationship. She has long since stopped trying to force me to do so (as first exampled in our break-up) and has never admitted defeat in rubbing my face in it, out of love of course. Lisa brought up her overwhelming circumstances of graduation and post-grad career and framed their successes on therapy of several flavors.

In a quick succession of tequila, spit-smeared pinkie swears, nods and the witnessing by someone who's been there, a pact was made - I would re-enter school (most likely starting from scratch), start therapy (which I'm not ashamed to say I need a spot of) and in exchange, my long-patient friend would enter therapy and stay there for the term of my schooling. *dusts off hands* biggrin The quote was, "If I'd known that getting you to go to school was going to a shrink, I would've done that seven years ago! *cackle*"

So this Sunday finds me with my FAFSA pin speeding on its way to me, application to be filled out later this week. My reckoning is taking a couple of non-matriculated courses that'll ease me back into acing tests with one hand tied behind my back. That's my story and I'm sticking to it! blush

Cool
I think Sagittarius has a lot of drive, but not much focus.
My motto for 2006 comes from the Simpsons, the ageing hippy behind the recycling stall:
'Simplify, man!'

(was it with you I was swapping the 'chowder' lines a while back? 'Say it, Frenchie', etc? I was fondly remembering this exchange when I made a bacon and blue cheese chowder the other week)

So: good luck with going back to school. I think I want to get into therapy next year too, and also, now you come to mention it, learn some music (I figure I'll start with yer basic piano) - but it will be several months before I can afford either...
