It's funny that I post something criticizing the public flaunting of people's sex lives on here, and I get the same amount of comments in 3 hours as I do in 3 days after posting something actually insightful into my own life and heart.

Screw you people.

Anyway, I aced (or so I think) my first exam of the semester just an hour or so ago. Psychology of Sexuality. Fairly basic stuff.

Here's a sample (the answer is in one of my comments here on SG, actually): What culture includes as part of heterosexual foreplay a form of cunnilingus in which the man places a fish on the vulva of the woman and gradually licks it out?

If anyone actually knows this without hunting it down, I'll be truly disturbed.

Also, anybody ever read any of the anthropological/ethnographical studies of Malinowski or Mead? I haven't thought much about them for a couple of years, and I'm wondering what I did with my books. Hm. I have a feeling one of my last landlords stole them. Which is retarded, because he was barely literate in English, and they were in French. Asshole.

I'm sorry, one more, this one's really a nice piece of scholarship, easy read, cross-disciplinary, and available through J-STOR.

I'm sorry, you really do a lot of projecting for a psych student, and the way you handle conflict has a lot to do with angry and accusatory language. I'm not the only one on the board who has noticed it. I'm sure you know by now that disputes are rarely (ever?) about the content, and more about the individual needs and wants of the speaker. (I'm not being heard, I'm being misunderstood, you are wrong and that threatens my viewpoint, etc.) Please consider this constructive criticism. I have taken many of the criticism against myself as coming off as self-righteous into consideration and I will work on it.

Maybe when you're older, you'll begin to practice a less defensive argumentation style that doesn't depend so much on berating the other person. From an outsider's perspective, it makes the person who uses the technique look worse than the person they use it on.

I did not mean those reccomendations condescendingly. If you were really an anti-racist activist, you would know that the battle and the education about these things never ends. Platitude of the day: You can study something to no end, but unless you live it, the knowledge is useless. There is no happy ending or feeling good about or settled on racism. If you think you're done, you haven't even begun. But like I said, that's the privilege of most white people.
