I'm currently reading (well, finishing up) Irvine Welsh's Filth and let me tell you, never was a book title quite so appropriate.
Not to give too much away, but let's just say that the most sympathetic character in the whole fucking thing is a tapeworm. A. Tape. Worm.
That being said, I haven't put it down over the last 2 days.

I'm also reading 100 Years of Solitude which is a novel I was supposed to read years ago at NYU and never got around to. It's really good, and I generally love Marquez, my only complaint being that it get's a little repetitive with the narrative. Successive generations tend to experience similar things and react in similar ways. I think that's part of the point, illustrating the very cyclical nature of Colombia's history, but it makes for a bit of a predictable tale.
Somebody just gave me a collection of Faulkner's previously uncollected stories, which is quite a treat, as I love Faulkner perhaps more than any other. I've yet to dive in, as I want to get into it on its own, not in the middle of reading three other books. Faulkner deserves my undivided attention.
That is, if I ever finally finish The Trial. I'm reading such a shitty, boring translation. It's amazing how imperfect translation can completely ruin a masterpiece.
So, yeah, lots of reading lately, interspersed with lots of online poker tournaments.
Oh, and I finally have a few days off work!!! Joy of joys!!! After two weeks solid at The Bar, I can't wait to just vegetate at the house, and go shopping, and cook yummy gourmet dinners.
