I love a look of Agony,
because it's True.
This is a simple, elegant explanation of my life philosophy. Happiness is so often a put-on, a mask, something we project in order to make others feel comfortable around us, regardless of the turmoil that may rage beneath the surface. Try faking a smile and making it believable.
Now try faking a frown, and making it not look like a comical caricature of sadness. Misery is authentic, difficult to project falsely. It is pure, sincere, full of depth and feeling. All too often, happiness is a veneer, not extending beneath the superficial expression of what it is presumed to look like.
There's scientific basis for this, as well. Psychological studies have demonstrated that people who truly believe themselves to be happy are more often than not suffering from some delusions about themselves and the world, and thus their contentment is based on a false perception of reality. Conversely, those that are depressed are shown to have much more realistic world-views and self-perceptions. They see the flaws inherent in life and deal with them realistically.
So...
1. Are you happy?
2. Are you kidding yourself?
3. Do you think that being sad is somehow the "wrong" way to be?
4. I suddenly have 9 chest hairs, with new ones popping up all the time, which is extremely distressing to me. What is your opinion on chest hair on guys? Shave, wax, or all natural?
5. For the opening week of the NFL season, as a Fantasy Team owner, would you start highly touted rookie and likely best passing option Kellen Winslow, Jr. at tight end, even though it's his first pro game and the Browns are facing the intimidating Ravens defense, or would you go with the proven veteran Marcus Pollard, whose Colts go up against defending Super Bowl champs New England, and who will likely split time with Dallas Clark?

P.S. I audition for Who Wants to be a Millionaire on September 28th. Wish me luck, and I will be taking applications for people who want to be a Phone-a-Friend. Be advised that if I call you and you blow it for me, you will be plagued by a lifetime of being dick-smacked in the face.
