Things are going well here now. I'm in the village where I grew up. It's nice to be back in this village. The city (Halifax) has changed so much over the last five years, but this place hasn't changed at all. Halifax is someone else's city, but this place still belongs to me. That's good.

I've been back in Halifax for about a week.

As I said, it's rather dreadful here. I visited my old favourite haunts, but now that I've done that I'm not sure what I'm supposed to do. I'll go tracking some old friends westward (as far as Winnipeg), but other than that the novelty of being back has certainly worn off.

Here I am in Canada. It's dreadful here. I do not like it.

Well, my bags are all packed. I'm all ready to go. But I can't go yet... I'm here until Thursday. I'm just so exited about the trip that I got packed up early.

I put a copy of "Howl and Other Poems" by Allan Ginsberg in my carry-on. I always travel with that book. I never go anywhere without having that book in my pack....
