I got myself Fight Club on Blu Ray a few weeks ago and had an odd experience. See I know that I love that film but its been a while since I've seen it and had completely forgotten just how ball blasting awesome it is. I've since then been going through movies I love but haven't seen for a while.

To carry on a theme I watched Seven next. I've seen this movie so many times I can quote the end credits, but despite being able to remember that I'd forgotten why it was ace.

This leads me into last night and my little trip to the Ruby Lounge in Manchester to see The Raveonettes. I've seen them before and I'll see them again, but it seems in the interim periods I completely forget what a devastatingly loud band they are. And what an utter joy it is.

Recently I've seen Alexisonfire and Rise Against, they weren't as loud as two Swedes and a drummer. Sure there was a sizable volume but nothing really there. The Raveonettes seem to make the air actually become a physical force that can hurt you as it resonates. It isn't noise it's an assault.

And there are more reasons to love them, there's no stupid clap - alongs, there's no bullshit speeches from the band and no awful songs asking me to care about something. Just 90 minutes of distortion, harmonies and dark dark lyrics.

It was fantastic.

And I haven't even go to the utterly gorgeous Sharin Foo love

I actually got in her way as she was going to the merchandising stall, and she touched me. Sadly it wasn't a "bad" touch.

Anyway I'll wrap this up before it descends into a sea of drool and sexual frustration.

Here's a couple of their songs -
