Right then... were to start... hmm...

Lets start with Facebook, or rather something I read on Facebook. In a moment of boredom I browsed the profile of a guy I know whos posts alternate between being unintentionally hilarious and infuriating. This falls into the infuriating category. On one of those quiz things that gets passed around he's been queried on his taste in music. And he answers thus (paraphrased) -

"Anything but Slipknot and that shit"

I can understand people not liking the metal version of Kiss, but what I think he's getting at here is rock music in general. Again I can understand that, I hate reggae music. Something about it just annoys me. Perhaps if UB40 never existed I'd have a different opinion. This is getting away from my point though.

The quiz continues and in a different question (I forget the context) he admits to driving around in his car listening to MC Hammer. Not just a few songs though, an entire album.

What he's done is similar to regarding the Mona Lisa as the work of a hack, while on the other hand thinking that excrement smeared around a toilet cubicle is the pinnacle of art.

It's my opinion that having a joke rapper as your choice of driving music means you are no longer allowed to criticize ANYTHING. You're not even allowed to say Hitler was a bad man. You've shown that you dont'have ability to analyze the quality of anything. If he told me that Antarctica was a bit nippy I wouldn't believe him.

Now onto some other shit music. Actually shit isn't the right word; its too passionate a word to award the album I'm about to rubbish.

Seems the Manic Street Preachers have decided they can't be bothered to write lyrics anymore. Instead they've just used the lyrics they told Richey Edwards were awful fifteen years ago. Now the album has a marketable angle, even a bit of edge. Out of teenage devotion to the Manics I've listened to "Journal for Plague Lovers" several times. Not one song has lodged in my brain. Each time it was like hearing it for the first time, and then instantly forgetting it. About the only positive I can take from the experience is that I now emphasize with the guy from "Memento" more.

Coming off "Send Away the Tigers" this a real disappointment. I'd write more but I just don't care enough.

Some news from E3: The Secret of Monkey Island is being remade. A game so old I'm pretty sure I played it in utero. Who fucking cares. If you're interested in playing it there's many torrent sites that'll serve that desire. And you'll probably love it. The rest of us will carry on getting excited about new games.

Last week I got myself an iPhone. I might just be blinded by technology but its fucking ace. My last phone was a Motorola Razor, meaning I've gone from an Atari 2600 to a PS3 in one giant leap. I could go on and on about it but I'll simply say this. My mother who has no interest in technology wants one. And has attempted to steal mine. Repeatadly.

Last Wednesday I saw "Drag Me To Hell" and there's a funny story attached to that. Actually its more bang your head against something and scream "WHY! WHY!", but thats material for another day.

Sam Raimi's new movie is fantastic; a huge FUCK YOU to all those idiots that consider throwing a skip of blood at the audience is the same as making a scary film. It's also funnier than every horror parody thats been released. There's one thing that really sticks in my head though

SPOILERS! (Click to view)

That ending, its absolutely beautiful. It's the only way to end the movie, and to actually do it is fantastic. It's also scarred my brain the same way the ending of Seven did.

There's some stuff about Terminator as well. But thats for a different time. The New Guitar Hero game as well.

Next time Gadget, next time!
