Once again my dad surprises me. Before this evening I had no idea he was a closet Xphile. His enthusiasm about the forthcoming X-Files movie has outed him though. I think his exact words were "Mulder and Scully, you're damn right I want to see that". He also wants to see Wall - E.
I always thought i got the geek gene from my mum, as it was her doing that got me into Star Trek by letting me stay up to watch Wrath of Khan several decades ago. Then again my dads passion for tractors and other things no one else gives a toss about has to a factor as well.
Basically it seems I was doomed to be a nerd from birth. For that I truly thank them.
Yesterday in work I was alarmed by a comment from one of my colleagues that being a nerd was cool now. Doesn't that go against all of the rules of the universe? If nerds are cool then they can't be nerds. This is the kind of paradox that could end the universe. Not only that the movie "Revenge of the Nerds" will make very little sense to future generations. Are we heading to a world were nerds are giving jocks wedgies? These are scary times my friends.
However if we are heading to a time were I can use the chat up line "You're as pretty as Princess Leia and as smart as Yoda" I'm all for it.
To other matters. This will probably be the best film ever made, Vikings Vs a Space Dragon. Its called Outlander and here's the trailer.
