Onto another movie. I'm late to the party but here's an appraisal of Quentin Tarantino's "Death Proof". What an utter fucking failure of a movie. I was under the impression this was his homage to the "B" movies, flicks that only exist to cater to the base instincts of sex and violence. "Death Proof" is like an episode of Loose Women on a road trip. The predominantly female characters talk utterly cliche shite for fucking ever, except when they are talking about things Tarantino thinks women talk about in his wet dreams, Ie movies/songs he likes.
Those moments are amongst the most horrible clunking attempts at dialogue I've heard since I started writing scripts. Back in the day I used to write wish fufilment scripts were my cipher would meet some beautiful girl that knew who Dario Argento is. I still have them, and before I write anything I read them to remind myself how not to write.
The perverse thing is that "Death Proof" is the perfect "B" movie. It promises things it never delivers.
Much like "No Country for Old Men", and I hate them for that.
Heres Geoff, looking forward to "Rambo" cos that shit cannot dissapoint, signing off..................
Saw "No Country For Old Men" last night, pile of bollocks.
