hang in there - as months go february may be the shortest but it's the *absolute worst* in my opinion. especially in the northeast, where the days are still short and bleak, the weather just seems to assault you, and let's face it - there's a lot of wetness (not the good kind, either).

awww, dachsunds are such cute little dogs! If it makes you feel any better or makes you less suspicious of whatever happened while your dog was staying with your friend, my parents have two toy maltese dogs (little white powderpuffs that weigh in at 6 pounds fully grown), and they frequently have leg injuries, usually the result of taking a stair too quickly or hopping down from the couch or a bed. I don't think either has completely broken a leg, but even with a fairly dog-proofed environment (pillows and cushions on the floor beside their bed and the living room couches, etc) they've had countless pulled leg muscles, messed up cartiledge, and even pulled groin muscles & such. Poor little pups - I hope yours is home and doing better soon.
