Gig last night rocked. Cold Dead Hands always put on decent shows with good banter. There is no other promoter I know which encourages such shenannigens as Human Pyramids, Human Skipping Ropes and Human Limbo Poles. Not to mention the Slo-Mo Wall of Death. smile

As for the bands, well I loved Kaddish, we played alright, not as tight as Sunn0))), but definately louder, Narwhal were kinda crappy, but Flatlands were awesome.

Talking to AnnaLee got me thinking; for a band that's fairly unabashedly straight forward Doom Metal, we play a lot of weird shows. The lack of a Doom scene here (or more than 2-3 Doom bands) means that we tend to get shoved on some diverse bills. Wether it's Hardcore, Finnish Prog, American Alt-Rock (we've supported 27 twice!), Post Rock, or the seemingly trendy Post-Neurosis Hydrahead bumming bands.

Scotland desperately needs more Funeral Doom.

Glad your show went well! I think it's good to have a little variety, and this Finnish Prog you speak of intrigues me very much!

glad you had a good one!

my old bands used to get tacked onto weird bills too, which can be cool, but often ends up with a hatred vibe coming from the crowd! used to love those to be honest, ha, ha!!! my last band used to close the set with a 10 minute doom song called 'Mojave', but if the crowd vibe was really shitty we'd simply extend it to around 15-20 minutes, then run away afterwards!!

"_______ desperately needs more Funeral Doom!!!!"

we got asked to play a 50th birthday party once, but wisely turned that one down, then there was the time we were booked to play a gig in london in a small pub, while they were holding a wake in a room next door!! we bailed on that one too after being threatened. all good fun!
