Greetings again one and all!

Has anyone seen Metropolis? I have finally got around to buying a copy of it and wow, I have no regrets. For an old silent movie made in the 1920s, it is remarkably accessible. As a critique of capitalism / industrialism it is still as relevant as ever and I just love the biblical allusions, such as the comparison of the machines to Moloch!!

Meanwhile, I must confess to being a man of peculiar tastes! I am talking about breakfast, that all important morning ritual of every person's day. What do you have for breakfast each day? I normally have a bowl of cereal with soya milk or a toast with either marmite or peanut butter. This morning, however, I fancied something with a bit of a bite to it!! This morning I had Bombay mix for breakfast! Gorgeous!!!

In a previous journal entry I mentioned that as part of my continuing drive for self-improvement, I was reading about The Law. Alas, I have become sidetracked and I am now reading "Oriental Magic" by Idries Shah. This is typical of me! I set myself aims and goals for self-improvement but I am very prone to distraction and I end up moving from one interest to another and then another and never really finishing anything off! I actually tried reading "Oriental Magic" a few years back but I ended up leaving it unfinished and reading something else, but now that I am not trying to read it, I find myself unable to put it down! Since attempting to read about The law, I have also found myself getting side-tracked long enough to read part of "On the Kabbalah and Its Symbolism" by Gershom Scholem. This is yet another book that has been sitting on my shelves gathering dust for YEARS but which I have never read all the way through due to the fact that whenever I have started reading it I have chanced upon some other book that I really, really just had to read right then and there. If I only would maintain my focus then I might actually achieve something!!

Sometimes I think that this is unfortunate as it means that I tend not to finish personal projects and my energies are scattered far and wide. At other times I think that, perhaps my constant change of focus is a part of my natural, personal cycle of growth and that I am not the kind of person who grows and learns in a step by step linear fashion, but rather that I learn and grow in an eliptical manner cycling round and round over a range of subjects sampling a bit of each and then returning to the first subject which a slightly broadened view and cycling around and around again (but then again, maybe I am simply making excuses for myself).

Hmm! I want more Bombay mix!!!

i know what you mean. not really in that i'm not sure whether i'm dreaming or not while i'm asleep, i have very strange dreams, so i'm aware even while i'm dreaming them that i'm not awake, but i often have doubts that my whole life hasn't been a long dream. then i think i don't really care either way.

have you ever gotten intensely angry at someone because they're so attractive and you don't know them and you can't talk to them and you know you'll never see them again and they don't care because they have no idea who you are??? mad agh.
