Last week just as I was getting in the mood for updating my journal, my computer gave up the ghost!. frown

I wasn't too much of a surprise as it had been increasingly dodgy and knackered out for some time but I had been hoping that it would last until I was settled in my new job. At the moment with the expense of driving lessons etc, I didn't want to fork out for a PC. However, I have just bought a cheapo, bog standard new one, so woo-hoo!!! smile

Judging by progress so far, I think I will need quite a few driving lessons!! Hence, I have paid for 30 up front (you get a small discount for paying for 30 lessons).

Last week my parents dog came to stay with me (a cuddly, black Labrador). He was happy to see me at first but after my parents walked out the door leaving him behind, he wasn't quite so happy and he was a bit withdrawn for a day or so. He didn't even bark when the post came in the morning! He initially spent a significant amount of time sulking under my desk. However, after a cat wandered into the house (the neighbourhood cats like to wander around my garden and if I leave the back door open, they sometimes come in to say "Hello") he was soon back to himself leaping out from under the desk, barking etc. Don't worry, the cat got away - I half expected something like that to happen so I was ready to hold the dog back. After that he was back to his old self and we sat around watching some of my horror films. He greatly enjoyed "An American Werewolf In London" although the tragic ending did make him cry a bit. Then we watched "Zoltan, Hound Of Dracula"; a touching tale of how one faithful hound's loyalty to his master stretches beyond the grave. My guest was little bit disappointed by David Cronenberg's "Rabid", feeling a little bit cheated by the absence of a strong canine lead (in the film, the disease is transmitted by humans not dogs) but he shared my appreciation of the innovative treatment of the werewolf theme in "Ginger Snaps".

Anyway, thats all folks.
