It is time for Poetry Corner again.
Just Once by Anne Sexton
Just once I knew what life was for.
In Boston, quite suddenly, I understood;
walked there along the Charles River,
watched the lights copying themselves,
all neoned and strobe-hearted, opening
their mouths as wide as opera singers;
counted the stars, my little campaigners,
my scar daisies, and knew that I walked my love...

pihka:
And whos Scrumpy?
pihka:
Oh no. It sounds exactly like my drink. Anything with apples is good, except for the icky Finnish sweet flavoured cider, brrr. This is not fair.
I love Chick tracts!!
Honestly, are these things meant to be tongue-in-cheek? Ok, I know that Chick Tracts are meant to be taken seriously, but they have been providing me with endless fun and laughter for longer than you would believe and I just have to mention them here in tribute to the continuing comic genius of Jack Chick.

Jeeze your gonna kill me for filling your journal space, just think of the paper we save and not the electricity we waste.
One more consideration; Well, as a scientist myself, (adjust glasses and pin protector) skin pigment is a balance between predisposition of melanin production and exposure of sunlight. The skin metabolizes vitamin D with the aid of sunlight. Humans need vitamin D and sunlight. Populations at the equator natural selected greater pigment for protection from the sun, while populations at the poles naturally selected to maximize vitamin D production. Within genetic predisposition, pigment production varies with exposure. More sun the darker the skin; less sun the paler, until environmental and nutritional conditions are balanced. Slavery began when inhumanity began; white/black are simplistic labeling and divisive tools. The most recent incarnation is a reminder for it to never happen again. (Toward an egalitarian enlightened democracy) I still like the more poetic rendition.

God Hates Figs
It is a rather amusing spoof website which mocks the way in which Christian Fundmentalists love to quote The Bible to prove that Gods hates this, that or the other.

His paintings are very much on keeping with my own metaphysical interests. I am soooo bowled over. What a great Bank Holiday weekend this has turned out to be!!!

Yesterday, out of the blue, I kind-of got offered a job in a health food shop!
I was doing my Saturday morning shopping and I decided to treat myself to a spending spree at the local health food shop. I piled my purchases on the counter. While I was paying for my purchases the nice elderly gentleman who was serving, commented upon how I seemed...

Thanks for the comment hun!!
I have been taking it easy today, just sitting around thinking, drinking and admiring the exquisite charms of the Suicide Girls.
I have just discovered that my local supermarket sells Green Chartreuse! I am sure that they have only just started selling it as I've never seen it there before. Needless to say a bottle of it found its way straight into my shopping trolley...

Yay! Bank Holiday Weekend's are cool!
Lazing around in bed. Playing world domination games on my PC. Watching DVDs. Eating. Not working. Its all good.
I have spent much of my weekend watching films. On Saturday I watched, "Cypher" and "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon". On Sunday, I watched John Carpenter's "The Thing". I am not sure why it is, but I have watched that film...

I have a bit of a cold this weekend. Its not particularly severe and it certainly isn't the dreaded 'man cold' (fortunately, I have never been susceptible to the dreaded and much whinged about 'man cold'). However, because of it, I just can't be bothered to do anything much. I am just lazing about in bed and reading books / surfing the net. The weird...
