Graffiti.
It's an artform that I love, and one that also seems to spark passionate discussion among my friends. Many people hate it, as they can't see past the destruction of property (or the effort of washing it off).. but the challenge to the idea of 'property' is part of the allure, the message.
That said, I would never tag a house.
I also find it ego-driven to tag in general... I prefer pieces with a message. Pieces done to say more than "I was here".
We got the Sinclair dinosaur the other day. It now says in bright bold white "Resist".
I also have a very personal reason for supporting graffiti artists... his name is Borf. His pieces carry the image of my 16 year old cousin, who killed himself a number of years ago. They're charming, sweet, and political.
