It doesn't seem possible that the perfect day can turn to shit in an hour. But that's what happened, yup. This morning after getting up at five a.m. I drove up to Mt. Hood for a day of boarding and had three hours of perfect conditions ( well perfect for me anyway ). Powder, powder and more powder. It was brilliant. Dare I say, (dare, dare)... genius? Then, suddenly, as if to say "happiness ain't yo thang, baby" it started raining. In an hour the snow level went from 2500 feet to 6500 feet. Just like that. I did however manage to catch some air in the super pipe and mini pipe. Oh well. Like sex, it was a few hours of sheer bliss then wet sheets and a deep desire to go home. Heh, just kidding... sort of. Have you ever had a crush on someone that you know you shouldn't? It's weird really. The fact the I'm of no use to anyone right now doesn't seem to matter. So it goes. I started building bedroom furniture yesterday (got to stay busy lest I start thinking again). I actually got it mostly done. A few screws here and there (no comments on that one please) then sanding and staining and I'm done. So far it's quite lovely. I had decided that I'm not, nor have I ever been, a frat boy and I should get my mattress and box spring off of the floor. It's been a long standing dream of mine to have a really awsome bed to fall into and I've decided that now's the time to realize that dream. A couple of years ago I dropped some large bank on a nice mattress but never went any further. I had an idea for awhile to build a metal one but never met anyone with welding equipment so that didn't happen. Then one day I thought, why not build one out of wood. I was, after all carpenter for many years. So I drew up some plans and TA'DA.
That's the unfinished version. I'll post pics once it's been stained. That took me about four hours to do. After I stain it I'll put a piece of plywood in to lay the mattress on top of. Notice the groovy shop that comes with my rental/shag pad! Sweet. So many things going through my brain these days. I watched the Constant Gardner last night and got very angry. Sometimes I can't understand why it is we are fighting in a country that no one wants us in. Spending billions of dollars, people dying, more and more people hating us everyday. Yet we can allow things like what's happening in Africa to continue. I kept thinking "this has to stop". Over and over. I sponser a couple of kids in Zambia and I can't help but be on the verge of tears when I think of the things that an entire contenant has to endure. I wish I could wave a wand make everthing alright. Make the greed and destruction disappear. Set everybody free. It seems the only thing that is keeping these places down is the endless fighting. For what? Power. Humans... fucking cockroaches.

I'm better at compliments when they're on a screen.

I had a dream the other night that you turned into a cat. A skinny black cat. I'm pretty sure that you could have changed back at will, though. (I don't know why you were in my dream, but don't worry, lots of other people were too.)
