Sometimes working for yourself is extremely difficult. But when it's good, it's AMAZING.
I had a big win for my little company this morning :) and it taught me a valuable lesson. I design greetings cards, and somebody wanted to stock them in their fabulous shop. Unfortunately they did not want to pay a fabulous price.
It's difficult not to compromise or second guess yourself when you're a start up, and sometimes you undervalue yourself or your product. On this occasion I explained to her that I have a green ethos - everything I do is eco friendly. My cards are made from recycled materials, even the cellophane I use is biodegradable because it's made from natural cornstarch! So my printing costs are higher, packaging more expensive, methods are costly.
This is what is important to me. And guess what guys? She said she had no idea it was such an eco friendly and costly process and she would love to put us in her shop at the original price I quoted her :D :D :D
Some of you may not realise how huge this was for me. Some of you may get it completely! But today I learned that I shouldn't second guess myself because if you have the goods to back it up you're usually right. HAVE A GREAT WEDNESDAY!! x
