Coachella kicked ass!! biggrin
As seen in the desert (in the 103 heat):

DAY 1
**Beck (always awesome and was by himself with a guitar in a relatively small tent instead of either of the main stages)
**Black Keys (a ridiculous 2 person blues-rock band...saw Johnny Greenwood catching their show)
**The Pixies (the long-awaited comeback did not disappoint)
**The Rapture (interesting)
**Radiohead (wow, and finally up-close)
**Kraftwerk (pioneers of their craft or kraft)

DAY 2
**Broken Social Scene (check out "You Forgot it In People")
**The Thrills (Irish lads with a CA-centered Beach Boy thing going...not bad)
**Sage Francis (they apparently make fairly talented white rappers in Rhode Island...who are funny, intelligent and politically active...sampled Nirvana's line "who needs action when you got words?" when discussing Bush and Iraq)
**Belle and Sebastian (enough said)
**Bright Eyes (liked in person much more than the album)
**Air (those crazy French and their Sofia Coppola sountracks)
**The Flaming Lips (only played a few songs, but had the dancing animals and fake blood on stage and a large bubble for their lead singer to run or stumble about the crowd -- nice anti-Bush sentiment as well)
**The Cure (these guys are getting old but can still do it)
**Le Tigre

my life, besides concerts...

work is ok...should vastly improve since I've been doing a double load for the last 3 or 4 months...they're hiring an office person so I'm going to get to go out and have fun and do more interesting work instead of pushing paper around and dealing with crazy and/or sad people all day...

my car is dead finally! So now I can get a new(er) one that gets good gas mileage, passes smog, and all that fun stuff.

wrote a letter to my literary hero (at least of the live ones), Dr. Hunter Thompson because he is covering the 2004 presidential race (and I'm also a political junkie who hates the Bush admin if you haven't guessed)...asking him if he needs an assistant...otherwise, I hope he'll just write back something that I can frame...if the whole Fear and Loathing 2004 thing doesn't pan out, I'm planning to volunteer my services and my weekends for MoveOn or some other anti-Bush campaign.

personal life- friends are good, but relationship prospects are not as good...I used to be really shy and I'm not as much now, but I'm a bit behind due to the late start and still learning...

Thats all I can think of now...I'm generally in a good place and should soon be even better...oh, and I got a new IPOD as a condolence thing for the car dying, and the interim car only has a tape deck and the only tape I own is Taj Majal and I've heard it 36 times in the last couple weeks...so I'm working on loading up the Ipod...a side note...if Bush wins, I'll seriously consider moving to Europe or devoting the next few years to oppose him in everything he tries to do.

Coachella = Inferno

Umm... who wants to be slowly cooked to death whilst watching sweaty bands quickly bang out their sets in an effort to return to their air conditioned trailers???

It had its good points though: amazingly cute chicks and guys in berry, berry little clothing... Oh yeah, and I got to see The Pixies reasonably close... memories for when I'm a forgetful prune.
