just spent the last 1 1/2 hours talking with my daughter, the older one. she's 19, doesn't have a job and has been shacked up with her boyfriend the last couple months. she's pregnant. he's mad as hell she wont abort it, wants nothing to do with it!

she's already found a couple that would adopt it. she said they would be able to provide for a baby better, and there's no doubt they could. but her hearts desire is to keep her baby. so we talked about both options.

basically i told her, money doesn't make you a good parent and the lack of it doesn't make you a bad one. also, just because this isn't what you planned ( she had NO plans!) and you're really young and it's a really bad time does that mean you can't be a good mother? but also would you raising a child be fair to that child either. emotionally and psycologically i mean. how good of a mom could you be and what would be best for a child...

i told her i loved her and i'd support her. i told her to think about it for awhile before she decides. there's no easy answers but she doesn't have to figure it out alone. i hugged her and tried not to cry.
