I love making marinara. I love everything about making marinara. the prep, the four or five hours spent in the kitchen, the stewing of tomatoes, everything. I love that every week when I make it, I think of my grandfather, and how much I miss him. I think my favorite part about it though is eating half the pot with a loaf of crusty french bread........... YUM! I don't really have much time... I told myself I wasn't really going to be online today, so I'm gonna write this and finish up my cooking, and continue listing ideas for my shoot....

Fall is the only time that I don't like living in Los Angeles. there aren't enough trees that change color. there are a few, but not like berkeley or portland.... Or the east coast, for that matter. I went to arlington, VA once in fall, and was blown away by the magnificence of thier autumn leaves.... but yeah, this is the only time of year I miss portland.... all the other times of the year, I'd rather be here..... spring in PDX is cool too. All the daffodills start to bloom, and cherry blossoms open...... It's really pretty.

I really should get back to the kitchen. I have an hour to go on this sauce.....

-philosophy or politics? Hmmm that is tough. I enjoy reading and writing about philosophy but when I discuss it with people I get frustrated that so many people clearly only pretend to have read whatever they are discussing or can't understand what they read. I am not talking about differences in interpretation I mean flat out getting things wrong or misrepresenting the core ideas of a philospohers work. For example I once talked to a guy who claimed Voltaire thought that this "was the best of all possible worlds". Apparently he didn't realize Candide was satire or never read it, or read something (cliff notes maybe?) about it and totally misunderstood it either way. Now, with politics people may have some crazy ideas, but, for the most part they generally have at least some understanding of what their party or candidates believe in. Kind of. yeah ok. Both frustrate me unless the person I talk to has at least some minimal degree of intelligence. And has not been misinformed.
-which is your least favorite food? Liver. I can't stand it in any form. Even pate and fois grais. It is just totally disgusting. Pineapple would be a close runner up. puke
-If you suddenly became rich, and never had to worry about money again, what would you do first? I would pay off my student loans and go to grad school. Choosing law school over grad school was the biggest mistake of my life. Even if I didnt have to I would want the opportunity to work at least part of the time and I think teaching would be interesting & fullfilling work.
