ok...quick update 'cause I've been away for a while, but I've got things to do before I can go to sleep.

Spent the weekend in Louisianna with my Reserve unit for our first drill since coming back from Iraq.

let me begin and the beginning.

on Friday I rode my motorcycle up to my buddy, Gary's, house so that we can carpool. it's a long...

I love road trip stories. Glad you guys made it there safe.

Incidentally, I always find vomiting after running to be ideal. If you have to vomit to begin with, that is. It's the mornings where you don't want to move in your bed because you know what's coming that I dread...

Man, a year ago I would have been so thrilled about this promotion... Running my own team was a blast. Running my own flight (15-20 people)? That would have been something I would have paid money for. wink

it's raining pretty good outside and work is slow so they gave me the day off. it's all good. I got 50 hours in 4 days so today wasn't really necessery.

sitting here having some breakfast waiting for the rain to let up a little bit before I take off out on the motorcycle to run errands.

reading news. and just...fuck.

I don't...

"In the past 10 days, 43 U.S. troops have been killed in Iraq. That brings the number of U.S. troops killed in the war to 1,820, according to U.S. military reports. "

I think it's funny that Bush kills more Americans than the "terrorists" do...

I am in the exact same back and forth mode.

I need work for the validation and a vacation for the sanity. Or maybe it's the other way around? Either way, I feel like it's a fucking slump.

I worked a FIFTEEN hour workday today. I got ten hours of overtime this week. AND I ONLY WORKED FOUR DAYS!!!!

spent all day...and night...today, putting in an airconditioning unit that normally cools an entire house for a rich dentist to use to cool ONE room. his wine cellar. it was really beautiful with floor to cieling wooden wineracks and these are vaulted ceilings.

but...

so...my weekend.

it went well. Friday was a good friend, one of my oldest good friend's, birthday. third decade of life and all that...or as we termed it, his 8th annual 22nd birthday.
we gathered and drank and had a great time.
it was a bit damped by the fact that we found out that his boyfriend is deploying to iraq very soon. but regardless...

Thank you thank you thank you! I got your postcard today!! I was so excited!

I sorta liked the Chocolate Factory, but I wouldn't buy the DVD, and I won't go see it again. It bothered me that they made him sound like Dr. Evil as a cartoon.

well...time for an update, I suppose. not that there is too much to update.

work is the exact opposite of last week. last week I was averaging 11 hour days of hot sweaty work. This week, it's SLOW. I'm averaging 5 hour days. I haven't actually even been going out with a crew, but managing to grab some work in the warehouse. it's easy work...mostly...

all i know is i'd probably kill myself on one. i've taken to explaining this to people by mentioning the fact i'd spectacularly wrecked and rendered un-ridable every bicycle i've had since the age of 6.

the stakes, obviously, are higher when there's an engine between your legs.

also, i'm PCSing to LA in a few months. something tells me it's not the ideal place to learn to ride (never been on one).

i go back and forth on it.

"delisexual" made me laugh. and thank you for saying I'm awesome.

ok I've kinda been away a lot. been having lotsa stuff goins on.
Really into the new job now. Installing A/C[slash]furnace units is hard work but it keeps you busy in a satisfying way. keeps the hands and mind going to where...aside from the miserable heat you hardly notice your day has gone by when the job's done. And I'm averaging 11 hour work days....

Just finished my first real week at work. I only worked four days and I still managed 2 hours of overtime, if that gives you any idea how much I'm working. mostly in attics with temperatures in the 150 degree range. fun stuff. today I got to work on some multi-millionaire boy-man's house. He had FOUR air conditioners for his house. FOUR!
ok. it was...

being my first slip, I was unaware that there could be more than one. a crash, thankfully, isn't on the horizon. i'm still not convinced my slip is recoverable. here's hoping.

ok I'm back from my week in the field. not even quite a week .

I usually enjoy these training things, but this one really wore me out. It wasn't quite what we were told it was going to be. But it was allright.

We ended up leaving a day earlier than expected and went to a different base then we thought we would. one...

Likewise, I like your photography and pictures of w. texas.. Makes me miss the Southwest. smile
_bossanova_:
Your journal just did a great job of cheering me up.biggrin I'm glad you managed to have fun, even while running around in that heat-it's too hot here to do anything outside. It's oppressive!

I wish you could go to Europe-your plans sounded like so much fun. What happened?

I'm hoping to come out there sometime before school starts (the end of August, I think). My brother and his girlfriend want to road trip it out there, and you know I can't resist a good road trip.love
