Back in Austin. Puerto Rico was great. It was just really really good to escape the wintery weather (even what passes for it here in Central Texas) for a week of sun and humidity ala the tropics.

I worked 16 hours yesterday, from 7am until 11pm. I am back up at 530 to be back at work by 7 for another day of the same.
And my bosses wonder why I am taking another vacation so soon after my Romania trip (after no time taken off in two years). ugh.
I am very much looking to warm sandy puerto rican beaches.

it's a rainy, foggy day here in San Antonio. it definitely qualifies for that "dreary" label.
Came down yesterday afternoon to replace my friend, Maria's, furnace unit. Her's has been no end of trouble. I replaced the fan motor on it last year...less than a year ago...and then it broke down again. It was a crappy model anyway...low low low end. Her repair company that...

cherrybug:
thanks. that's good advice.
Home again by 2 from work. And today is the first day I've worked all week! It's just damn slow at work. It's kind of surprising given that the temperature has stayed in the mid and upper 80's . I'll get some money for drill this last weekend, which was the Marine Corps Birthday Ball..more on that later, but I seriously can't afford to be...

the fireplace probably could be used, but i don't think i'd want to risk it as it is. the mantles downstairs are sure pretty, though!
the new place is in nashville, yes, so we're a little further from short mountain. but now we're nearer to our own land, which is down by pulaski, and hopefully this spring/summer i can live part-time out there and build things up and farm, etc. i love the SM folk, but i just couldn't see us living there. but hey, we might start our own commune-type arrangement, who knows.
of course if you ever come through the area, you're welcome to stay at our place!

so I figure I'l finish up my travels' tale:
Leaving Bucharest for Brasov went easily. The weather was crap, but we had gotten a taxi to the station, so we didn't have to slog through it much. Hans and I saw Midori off on her train and then caught ours. The weather cleared up a bit on the way out of Bucharest. It's an amazing...

okay...this is a looooong journal post...basically recounting my travels from last month. I really don't expect most anyone to try to read the whole thing. but skim it over if you like.
and the photos are all to be found HERE.
Been back in Austin for a few days now. Just kind of easing back into the normal routine of life. It takes a...

OK, I am back in New York. Have been for a few days now. I'm still gathering up all my photos and thoughts from my all too brief vacation in Europe. I'll have more of both (thoughts and photos) up here soon. It's been a great trip, but...like always, entirely too brief. I don't get homesick nearly as strong as I get itchy feet. I'm...

Hi
Thanks for stopping by and saying hi! Everything is going well here, just super stressed with school. This is my hardest semester ever and I feel on the verge of a mental breakdown just about every day! Luckily I have that awesome man of mine to keep me sane.

it's not playing here this weekend!

I didn't understand it either, which is half the reason I stopped breathing.
