soooooooooo. I was supposed to work late last night...or at least I was the guy on call for after hours or what not, but I was rescued from having to work past 7pm when my work truck's engine caught fire. thank goodness for that! no, really. Actually it didn't so much catch fire as eat the belt and pull a hose loose so that fluid...

Long day at work. Listened as much as I could on the radio to the election coverage and lucked out in that the last house that I worked at tonight belonged to an Obama supporter, so I stood around and watched PBS coverage with her and her family. And the incomparable infinitelykaty kept me up to date on everything from flipped states to free chikfila...

turns out that soreness in my legs from running was a stage 2 quadriceps strain (ie muscle tear). oops.

oh yeah. this new format for "my SG" BITES. it's what we in the military like to refer to as a clusterfuck it's a cluttered mess of seemingly random information that makes me not want to bother with any of it. on top of that all...

finally home. from work, not drill. got home late last night from drill. had to stick around late and sit in on the preceedings to kick a good Marine out for having taken some of his roommate's Adderall to study for a test. it came up as meth on a urinalysis and he's gone. nothing to be done for it. sucks.

otherwise decent weekend. went...

Mmmm tasty.

But really, about the drugs, I always told myself that I would have more than enough time to do those sorts of things once I EAS'd and no longer had to worry about drug tests.

Off to drill for the weekend. bang pow. y'all have a good weekend.

Eeesh. Hope it's over quickly.smile

waking up slowly.

heading out for a second shift of work today. been working my ass off trying to pay off some bills and save up some money for...I'm not sure what yet...going back to school? some travel? maybe both if I can manage it...probably not.

The weather has turned cool here in Central Texas and it really feels like autumn, pretty much my favorite...

Glad its cooling down in TX. It was 90 yesterday here.

The way this game's going, it looks like neither one of us might get any points out of Prater. Denver can't seem to hold onto the ball within 40 yards of the goalposts.

I took a hit with Reggie Bush, too, in that league where I'm beating Pip. It's frustrating, 'cause just when I'm (hopefully) getting Westbrook back, Bush goes down. I'm still in first, even after the Eagles bye week (hence my two open slots and Kerry Fucking Collins at QB), so it's all good.

Thanks for the birthday wishes, man!

to paraphrase George Carlin, Have you ever gone to take a nap in the afternoon and woken up after dark....and you don't know what goddamn day it is?

was on call last night, worked late and then got back up early for a short shift...thought I'd take a nap when I got home...but my body said."nosir...lights out and no wakey til after 9." I just...

I am going to the University of Oklahoma GO SOONERS! (fuckers just got beat by TX this weekend and lost their #1 ranking whatever ).

I met and worked with several of the recon guys in San Antonio when I was out there this summer. You would like them; really, really capable and likable guys.

Pretty sure you will have to be activated to take advantage of NCPACE, but it is the best deal going. The only expenses you are responsible for are textbooks. I haven't paid a penny of tuition and I will have a Masters from one of the top five public universities in the country. What a great deal. My only complaint is that on the masters level there aren't very many choices of degrees, but then again, it's all liberal arts shit anyway--not like I'm an engineer or biologist... Doesn't really matter. I'm just doing it (like you alluded to) to qualify me for jobs that require a masters (and, sort of, to turn my nose up and talk all snooty because I will be legally smarter than most people). Plus, it helps that it is self-paced, self-taught, and totally free. It would be stupid NOT to do it.
The fact that you are a reservist is gonna affect you the most, I would imagine. I don't know shit about reserve programs, except to say that I know they're nowhere near the good deals that active guys get.

Let me know if you change your mind about Medellin. JP and I will most likely head down in December.

this is my favorite time of the year. weatherwise and in general.

Central and South Texas doesn't really have much of a spring. it just kinda goes from dreary to fuckin' hot in about three weeks. I like the hot weather, but by about this time I'd ready for the break.

this is also the time of the year that I most love to travel....

Here's the restaurant week site. I've looked though the menus and my choices are...
Top two:
Roaring Fork (Yummy sounding menu...apparently David Letterman eats here haha)
Louie's 106 (probably the best sounding menu)

Others:
Cru Downtown
Bistro 88
Imperia (menu is just alright but the restaurant looks really neat and it's normally expensive as balls).

And Sagra is the place I want to go to some other time, fo sho.
There are a lot of good places on the list to maybe try lunch at some time (when we have the time O_O), since it's not as pricey.

......
mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm FUD. tongue

Uuuufff... Working on my masters right now. BLOWS. I've written 8 essays (long ones) in the last 4 days. Have 6 more to go before Tuesday afternoon. It's kicking me in the can. Good luck with stuff homey. Lemme know if you want my advice on some good schools. I could put ou in touch with where I graduated from, if you'd like. Also, are you still a reservist? I wonder if you could do some kind of NCPACE-type stuff. It's the best deal around. Let me know if you want any support.

Also... I know you said you're not going to travel, BUT... JP and I are going to Medellin next month or Dec (probably Dec) and expenses aren't bad.. You're invited, if interested.
Laaaaaate.

I typically find Hollywood intrusions into politics to be nauseating, but I thought this was cute. Ellen is adorable.
