Had a great first weekend back with the Marines. Back with my old unit despite all my attempts to switch jobs over the last year. Just feels like the right place to be right now anyway. Had some of my guys from before still there, just a year older and quite a few new faces, boots ie young kids just out of initial training. New leadership in some places too. Everyone is running around like crazy trying to get ready for us to go. We got a lot accomplished this weekend and still have TONS to do before we head out at the end of the month, but this is as fun as it is stressful, glad to throw myself into the work. and of course I expect to get a lot of partying and relaxing done over the next couple weeks now that I'm done with my day to day job.

also got to spend today with good friends and family. my mother and her husband rode their motorcycles all the way down to Texas from Iowa and were on their way back up, stopped in for a nice dinner and to rest up. And saw my closest friend for years and years and his mom for a while today before he flew back to NYC. it's been a pretty good week.
