can't sleep. being the old fuddy duddy that I am, I am usually asleep well before 11. well I guess it has a lot to do with my normally having to be up at 5am for work. But I am not working again tomorrow...so I guess I can stay up with the kitten for a while. He's in hypernosis mode at the moment. running around the apartment, leaping at absolutely empty air in a pouncing manner. and trying to crawl through a cardboard box he collapsed earlier.
had a pretty good weekend. three day weekend since I didn't work friday. took a long motorcycle ride on saturday to visit my mother's parents north of Austin with Katy. nice little short visit. they took us out to lunch. the ride back went much faster due to taking a more direct route. spent most of the rest of the weekend enjoying cartoons. Katy and I just happened to get a bunch of cartoons thru netflix right before the weekend. So it's been Wallace and Gromit and Charlie Brown and now the complete Aeon Flux animated set. good times.
I'm a little concerned about finances at the moment, since work is so off and on, but I've got drill this weekend, so that should help out a little. taking my squad out to the range for some combat shoot drills.
other than that I am news poisoning myself via nytimes/washingtonpost and other news sites particuarly regarding the whole N Korea thing and reading more Nabakov.

Ico still gets the clothes dryer and the fridge confused and will meow for treats when I'm pulling laundry out.
