AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHH!!!!

I hate being a girl so so much. There are so many goddamn contradictions and paradoxes in doing it.

Ok, so the other night I'm doing an art assignment in the middle of the night and this kid walks up to me. He's this cute little indie pianist/composer. Anyways, so he starts talking to me, and keeps me company for about an hour. Beside the fact that the company was nice, he kept decent conversation. Anyways, so he offers to give me a ride somewhere the next day. Well my first impulse is to turn down favors from boys I don't know because it means that they probably want to get closer, i.e. a little somethin' somethin.

No, I'm not accusing this kid of premeditated date-rape, but the assumption is instinct. I regretted turning him down so quickly later on. I mean he could have just liked the company. maybe he's gay.

Anywaaays....so I say no, but later he calls me up and asks me out for lunch. Now I'm excited that I have a second chance to take this guy up on his offer, hoping he's not wanting a little more. I'm also a little more excited by this guy. I mean, he's really reaching out here.

By the way, should have mentioned before, I'm with someone, and not interested in this kid enough to cheat on my guy.

So I've got this lunch datey type thing. And now I think about it, it's TOTALLY a date. I mean, I'll still go, but the more he puts out effort and more it seems like he like likes me. And the more I accept because of guilt, or wanting to make a new friend ot whatever, the more I'm communicating that he's cool in what he's doing.

So here's the universal chick paradox that I'm getting to. You're sitting around, being yo' fine self and a boy walks up to you and is nice. Do you 1) accept his kindness, play naive to the fact that he's leading himself on (presuming you're not interested) and hope he's just a generous guy. Or do you 2) assume he wants a little more than late night conversation, and turn down whatever offers he makes to keep him in the real world.

And if you go with option 2, what keeps you from being a bitch. I mean, maybe this guy is just being nice. No wait. Scratch that, that's bullshit. People don't pull random acts of kindness like THAT. So it can't be just random kindness, its obviously something you have that he likes. And in the span of an hour, what can a person really offer.

If one were to figure out that last statement, I bet you could find the answer. But there's no way to know how another person processes social interaction and prioritizes traits of companions.

So back the the drawing board. Here we are, here I am, and here are the general rules of boy-girl social interaction that don't make sense anymore.

1. Men put out effort so girls will put out.
-wrong on the accounts that I like getting booty and I may accept favors without expecting to give out

2. A lunch date isn't a date
-I feel like I grew up with the idea that dates happened at night in diners or drive in movies or something. Lunch is when you meet up with your friends. Right? Ok, well I'm rethinking this bullshit assumption that I've kept. But com'on. The sun's out and its too early to drink. How can you date under those criteria?

So yea. I haven't really said anything or concluded anything. But I'm definitely done talking. Ok, someone else say something
