so, while driving home yesterday my clutch decided to start going out about half way across kansas. yeah, the christmas gods have it against me. i guess i shouldn't have made fun of the hippies in boulder. damn that karma.
i did make it home, and hopefully it's only something minor and not as expensive as getting my whole clutch replaced. there goes all the money from my last check.
but i guess the bright side is i could have been stranded in w. kansas. and that's a scary thought.
otherwise, christmas was good and everyone managed to get along.
chicago was ok, but the vegan ice cream didn't last very long in my car. bummer, i was hoping for chocolate today. oh well, i guess it was to be expected.
hope everyone had a great day. time to make cake. oh, it's going to be good.
tomato pesto hommus rules. too bad i had to go all the way to chicago to get it. damn colorado and it's lack of good hommus.
later turds.

I have to go look in on my mom's cat while she's away, so I'll rummage through her recipe box and see if I can find the hommus recipe. I make a damn good pesto sauce from scratch, too... I'll dig that one up if you like.
2 cups fresh basil
1 cup fresh Italian parsley
1/2 cup Parmesan or romano cheese, grated
1/2 cup pine nuts, toasted (you only have to toast them for 1 or 2 minutes at 350 degrees. they should be barely browned.)
4 garlic cloves, roughly chopped
1/4 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon red pepper flakes
1/2 cup olive oil
1 tablespoon lemon juice
2 tablespoons water
Combine all ingredients in a food processor or blender. Puree until the mixture forms a smooth, thick paste.
