1. How was your Thanksgiving and what are you thankful for?
it was lovely! so much tasty tasty food. I've already eaten most of my leftovers rofl. 🤤 I'm thankful for so much this year, but one of the newest things is that my body is the strongest and healthiest it's ever been! next up: better flexibility ahaha 😂
2. Who's putting up a Christmas tree 🎄?
meeee! it's not up yet this year though, ugh. shame on me. every other year I've gotten it up the weekend immediately following Thanksgiving!
3. Do you have any family traditions for Thanksgiving and Christmas?
sort of, mostly just in the kinds of foods we eat! like I might riot if there's no stuffing or cherry pie. 🤣🤣 otherwise though, my dad and I always watch George C. Scott's A Christmas Carol on Christmas day! we used to do it the night of Christmas eve, but that was before I moved out. now, it's actually on the day of when I come visit. 😌
4. Your best advice?
for the holidays? or in general?? let's go with for the holidays - do NOT go broke trying to buy gifts for people! even if they're spending more on you - set yourself a realistic budget and stick with it. cost of a gift shouldn't matter to anyone anyhow.
5. Do you have any holiday charities you donate to?
no, but if I did, it'd either be my local library or the YWCA. or maybe Planned Parenthood, because they could always use extra help.
6. Your favorite Christmas song?
I think I'd say any instrumental version of the classics! I much prefer the melodies over the words.
7. Your best Christmas present, your choices given or received?
this is really hard, since I don't really note in my memories the gifts I've given - just the peoples' reactions. received, though - the one that's coming to mind the most is a hand-painted miniature of my D&D character from a homebrew campaign my friends and I played for 2-3 years straight. that story was played from beginning to end, lvls 1-20, and at the very end I was gifted my paladin Gilrin in miniature, in her own little display terrarium. I've had it displayed on my dresser since. 🥰
8. Do you have your Christmas shopping done?
HAH, no. it's about half done though!
9. Fun question - something you enjoy during the Holidays?
lights and decorations! though this year I really enjoy other peoples' more, since I just have NOT had the energy to put up my own 😅😅 admittedly I also love collecting wrapping paper lol!
10. Do you have plans for New Year's Eve?
not yet! but that has the potential to change in the next month. 🥰
11. Your goals for the New Year 2024?
I don't really do the new year, new goals thing - but the one thing I know I want to work on is getting more flexible. I'll figure out a routine for it one day, I swear.
12. Your New Year's resolution?
see above! and maybe to just find more balance between all the things I have to do and love to do for fun.
13. Your favorite hobbies?
Reading, gaming, gardening, and dancing, mostly I think! I have so many other smaller ones too.
14. Do you do Christmas cards?
I usually do, but I'm not sure this year! I'm probably just sending them to immediate family and close friends this year. my energy supply is very low. 😔
15. Share anything you want from your past holidays?
there was one year when I was really with it on gifting right after I graduated college, and my gifts to everyone I knew and loved was their own box of homemade cookies. and by god I was going to include my long distance and international friends on this too if it killed me. I distinctly remember still being awake at 4am the night before I had to get them all mailed out, sorting cookies into so much pretty packaging and getting them air tight and packed well so they would stay fresh and unbroken - and I remember I dropped my scissors and by instinct lunged to catch them. by the point. on the palm of my hand. 😂😅 they weren't super sharp so it wasn't more than a cut, but, lol still! and I'm happy to report that it was all worth my clumsy ass hurting myself - everything got everywhere in good shape and in good time, and let me tell you, sharing my family's traditional cookies with friends all over the world made me feel so damn proud!
