The Daily Visual

Hello everyone!! love I would like to take a few moments out of my day to introduce you to two of my most beloved glass artists. To those of you not familiar with the medium of hot glass it's been around for ages, but it's just now begining to gain some acceptance within the art community as a valid method of expressing oneself artistically. Each of these two men have been working for many years now and are both pretty big names within the art glass world......

Enjoy!!

Dale Chihuly is accredited with revolutionizing the studio glass movement, moving the blown glass form from the small precious object into an accepted form of large scale installation and environmental sculpture. He also pioneered the use of studio teams. A group of well trained glass artisans used to assist in the creative process, allowing Chihuly to step back and take a directors role. I of course could go on about the dry stuff, but it's much more ineresting to just LOOK!!

And...

Stephen Rolfe Powell Powell, unlike Chihuly, is more of a traditionalist... but don't let him hear me say that. I only mean that his art work focuses more upon the traditional glass vessel. They may not look like a vase but they are essentially designed after one... Powell is also a colorist, making his passion bold, vibrant color. Almost like a painting within the glass object.
