Met up with an old college buddy last night. He's *this* close to getting his PhD in some kind of science. It was genuinely good to see that cat again.
We met at a place in the district that was a bit outside my comfort zone, but I held up well and managed to avoid drinking yet again. My willpower is on point, but I will have to chalk some of it up to the fact that it was an expensive place! I can't justify paying ridiculous cash for something that I have in my fridge at home which I bought at a fraction of what they want.
It's kind of funny, because for what they were charging for entrees and alcoholic beverages, you would've thought that they could have some more comfortable stools at the bar. But hey, that's how a lot of these places are nowadays. It's not about comfort, but looks.
Despite everything I've just said, I may return to this eatery in the future. Since I missed out on that course in Russian at the community college, I've been scoping out private language centers. There's a place near my job and another one but a stone's throw away from the restaurant that I was at last night. If I opt to take a class at the latter, I may well stop in for a pizza or something.
My bartender works there on the same nights that I would have class, so at least I would know someone.
But that's not a big deal either, as eating out alone isn't shit to me.
