gosh you guys...i lost my job on Tuesday afternoon. i got laid off. 
my story is similar to so many people's in this city/state/region/country, it is nothing particularly new. there was no reason behind it, other than business has tightened so extremely that they "had no chioce". i will be honest and say that their business is being run into the ground by a spoiled-rotten princess who has no clue what she is doing. i am just kind of pissed that i didn't get to tell her off when i left. my boss loves me, said that i didn't do anything wrong and that i was a hard worker. i asked him straight out, "are you kidding me?" it just kind of reminded me of the episode of the office where Michael fires Pam, but he is just kidding...but my boss was not joking.
the thing is that, while i am a bit sad i will not be sitting next to my best friend for 8 hours a day, i am far from hopeless. due to my new connections, i am fairly well-situated to get a job at Wayne State University, which would be right downtown. it would be like an adventure, i figure...detroit is unfamiliar to me, but i can learn.
