You have a concept of who you are.
An easy example of this is our profile; Likes, Things that make me happy, Five things I can't live without. Into. Not Into.
We pick and choose the information from which we define ourselves, and more so for the socially intelligent, we pick and choose the information we share with the world about who we are.
Violentpatriot. I like big dogs and shopping malls make me sad. But why?
I associate big dogs with dogs of my past. The association makes me happy because of all the good times I had with my dog Booger. A St Bernard/Rottweiler mix.
Shopping malls make me sad because I associate them with loss of nature, overpopulation and just... society and its expansion.
Now to get back on track. I am seeing the world through my eyes only. I am interpreting all information through [my] brain and putting meaning and associations to it.
But the meanings and associations are only from one POV. Mine.
Starting to see some flaws with this system yet?
We learned all of our associations and knowledge. Either through how it was presented to us or through our own interpretations of life. Now who presented the information to us? What was their POV? Chances are they were just reciting their interpretations that were replicas of the info provided to them.
Remember the victor writes the text books.
This isnt about blame however. This is about awareness. There is more then one way to look at anything.
Lets go back to the dog. A dog can be seen through my eyes, or though the eyes of a cat owner, or from the pov of another dog. We can look at a dog scientifically. We can look at a dog from the perspective of history. Or anthropology. Or sociology
There are plenty of ways to view the dog but in the end. The dog is just a dog. The meaning and context from which you view him or interpret your meanings of this dog are your own.
But are they? Who is doing the thinking for you?
