Dear Jason Aldean and Country Music,

I am a fan of country music. Im a patriotic, proud to be rural, working man.

I love your music. I like your voice and I like your lyrics. They embody the essence of country music while being current and part of the new country sound. My wife said it best once when she said what you sing about in country music is just as important as how it sounds.

Country music holds its artists to higher standards. We dont want to see our musicians snorting cocaine, destroying hotel rooms or getting arrested with prostitutes. There is a massive segment of society dedicated to this. It is in our cities and our television and in the movies. This is fine but sometimes I choose to turn all of the negativity off and I find peace in Country music. I like that Country music still stands for something good and pure. That American traditions of hard work, family values, faith, small towns, the Flag, lost love, shotguns, hound dogs and four wheel drives all still have their place somewhere!

Lets be honest here. The folklore lifestyle of country music is sadly disappearing. With satellite television, the internet and internet sellers such as Amazon and our improved and more efficient postal system; the lower 48 and most of America is well connected. Even in the smallest towns in Wyoming and bush villages in Alaska the teenagers have all seen The Hills and play network Xbox360. I am jealous of those lucky enough to still live the country life. It is important to me that Country music reminds me of this vanishing lifestyle.
It is the romanticism and what County has always represented.

Country has always been romantic notions of American life. The dime store novels of the Lone Ranger and Buffalo Bill. Westerns where the actors really did spin their guns and trick crack their bull whips. And Country music should be alone on the range. I like that it represents Americana.

So I am picking on you Jason because I think you are a leader in the new country and you are the real deal as they say. You are a perfect example of what I mean when I say Country Music has lost its way. I recently watched the CMA awards and Country music artist after artist emerged wearing some blend of rock and roll and country. Excess jewelry, sparkling clothes, specially cut hair that should belong on a metrosexual, double earrings?

Come on man?! How are you suppose to throw bales of hay with so much damn jewelry on? At what point in a mans life did it suddenly be ok to spend four hours getting your hair and makeup done? Could you even walk to the mailbox on a dirt drive way wearing that fancy custom made, rhinestone covered get up?

Im sorry; I am not trying to be mean. But the American way is to sometimes grab a man by his collar and give him a slap in the face and tell him to SNAP OUT OF IT. Get your shit together and remember who you are. Hollywood is where I want the fruits and nuts and all the rest of them. Nashville if you are trying to be Hollywood you are WRONG. Those are the last people and the last industry that needs to be emulated.

Lastly, now with videos what we see is just as important. Take My kind of Party. This is a great song about one of the most fun parts of small town life ; an end of the road tailgate party. So what was the video of? Aldean in a tunnel surrounded by models in high heels and cocktail dresses. Where is the truck with the jacked up tailgate? The bonfire? And I dont want to see models in cocktail dresses and shoes that cost a weeks wages. Instead show me a country girl in her favorite pair of jeans! Please! Videos should look like a three minute Marlboro advertisement.

Thats all I got. I know you know what I am talking about.
