Spent the day in the iceclad ocean. Didn't see the fabled great sea turtle, or the named snow-griffon. I did, however, get from level 31 to level 33 soloing snow-kitties in true ranger fashion. I could fear-kite them, but it's just not as fun as a stand-up battle, toe to toe, swords against claws. I usually get bored slaughtering the mobs like that, one at a time for as many as five in a row before I have to take a med break. It does get dull, hacking and slashing and kicking. Sometimes you just gotta root and use your bow for a while, or switch to a two hand slasher like my war marshal's bladed staff. Today went by pretty well, though. I feel sorry for the kitties. They are so pretty and white. Maybe tomarrow I should start working on frost giants? It's been a long time since I made any frost giant steaks. I might have to spend a day making fish rolls just to get enough skill to make frost giant steaks worth attempting. Tunare knows my fletching skill is better than my archery skill, a sad state for a ranger to be in, but I honestly love my blades. I have the heart of a warrior, I just couldn't bear to live without magic. Besides, the forests are my home. I am truly a ranger, right down to my soul, 3/4 warrior, 1/4 druid.
I wonder how far I can get on my own, without the help of others? Grouping is good for xp, but soloing is the ranger way. I guess we will see. With EQ2 coming out in Sep., I think I may get a second computer and two-box, that way I can create a shaman or druid to be with me always. No elf is an island.
