I'm not reallyreally taking part in NaNoWriMo, although I'm aware that's this month. But I am aiming for the same minimum word-count, because what I'm writing started out as a short story, and although it got out of hand it's still not going to be an epic of JK Rowling proportions (it's not a kid's book, either), and 50,000 words is pretty much the accepted minimum that can be published as a novel in its own right.
Furthermore, I am writing this with the kind of haste and dedication that would astound most anyone I know. Because I'm 25 at the end of next month, Jesus my life's slipping through my fingers like air, only not recycleable. How can another year have gone by while I sit here waiting for life to begin?
