I was just going to let today go by and keep it personal... but then I got to thinking about the world today as we know it...

When I enlisted in the Marines, we transitioned from the Carter administration to the Regan/Bush White House... at that time, young Marines who were even suspected of being narcs were thrown off of third and fourth story buildings... while in Okinawa Japan, a young Marine was hung in the chow hall for being black... and I spent the better part of six months in Japan walking the Ville at night with a black Marine Officer watching for signs of retaliation... when I left Okinawa in '81... there was something happening... and I couldnt put my finger on it... but, nonetheless... you could see it happening across both Military and Civilian channels... soon, we had a zero tolerance for drugs (and this kicked in Jan '81)... soon we began dialogue about racism and the warrior team concept. People began to comment about how the Military became a "model" again for life and morals. More importantly, we began to trust each others, and the term "band of brothers" became a more real term... while in the Staff NCO Academy, dialogue turned to how much had improved since boot camp and basic training courses. President Regan's "trickle down" economics was not necessarily monetary in my life... he began to assert a confidence in this country that was felt world wide... today there are those that would rewrite history and say that his determination to end the cold war, was a result of both countries losing... I say that is the biggest lie anyone could try to pull on us. There is actually a report that is out on exactly how much each country spent during the arms race, to include the rebuilding of Eastern Europe... and whether that amount justified the expense placed on the tax payers... ahem... the taxpayers re-elected him again in '84. The man will go down in my life as the greatest President this country ever had... remember, that as a child, I watched the funeral and burial of President Kennedy. Today marked another turning point in our history... I wonder which direction it is going? And, I wonder if we will remember, or regret...

Yeah, god bless that mans soul. I cant stand republicans tho, lol!! He was a great guy, in a lot of aspects. Unfortunately I was just a baybeh when he was in office, but I know a great deal abt him. Enough to say Im sorry he's gone. Now bush on the other hand ....

If I couldnt smoke pot in the marines then I couldnt join the army. sorry. It really keeps me sane, I mean it. Yesterday I was flipping nuts, just irritable, crabby, BITCHY, depressed, UNBEARABLE ... and my friend says to me, "go smoke a joint!" and I told him "Im out!" and he says "well hunny thats your problem!"

you and I have a lot of the same faves as far as books are concerned. or did I say that a long time ago?
