I'm wondering how long it'll take before people from my real life realize I'm on this site. It's not like it's a pr0n site of some sort - like a Bang Bus or some such other arguably dehumanizing, woman-as-victim site - but still does one want the people in his life to know he's all into the sexy ladies to the point where he's willing to pay a price to see them?
Men attend strip clubs with pride - it's a male rite of passage to many. Not me. I never had the interest in that sort of thing. While I'm all for fraternization, I'm not really down with getting a hard-on while hanging with a bunch of dudes and then... well, who the Hell knows what happens next. Lap dance? In the back room or otherwise? No hands can go where you want them to go, etc...
Nope. Not for me.
But this kind of site seems downright DEVOTED to women, the incredible diversity of their attitudes and their freedom of expression and also, some downright artful photography. It's not pr0n. Just because it is arousing - and don't misunderstand, it really, REALLY is... it's also art and society and politics and silliness and love and desire and and and...
So if someone were to see my picture, review my list of favorite movies and then say, "Holy Crap, my friend/co-worker/the guy that built my website has a profile on Suicide Girls," will I be worried?
Fuck no. Because 1.) I adore women and I make no pretense to hide this admiration from anyone, 2.) this site is pretty damn multi-layered and isn't just about the stroke and 3.) because I'm pretty sick of caring about what people think.
Don't find this appropriate? I'm sorry you don't see the ABSOLUTE BEAUTY in an unclothed lady. Don't like the name of the site? You're over-thinking it. Don't think I can be a loving husband, father and urban professional and like this sort of thing? I fart in your general direction.
Clearly I do worry a little about it, but I'm here... writing and not hiding behind a generic graphic. That's saying that I'm pretty OK with being on here. In fact, it might even say I'm proud to be here.

I mean, Watchman? Yes, I can dig. Kingdom Come? Abso-freaking-lutely. Identity Crisis? MY FAVORITE! Even stuff like Red Son and The Dark Night I can get behind. But when DC decided to do a "Crisis of Infinite Titles" like they've done with 52, I just said, "Not for me."
And Marvel? Forget it. NO WAY. Bore me to tears. I'm probably one of only six people in the world that hasn't seen Iron Man, Iron Man 2, Thor, The Hulk with Ed Norton, or Captain America. And nope... didn't bother with The Avengers either.
But "Powers?" Now THAT'S how you do a superhero book!
I read about 20 ongoing titles and most are smaller titles by guys like David Lapham and Ed Brubaker. Love stuff like "The Walking Dead," "American Vampire," "The Unwritten" and "30 Days of Night." I'm a weird guy. What can I say?
