I must admit I'm totally into volunteering. The weekend before last had me doing Adopt-A-Highway, and I will be volunteering at an art auction on the second. I'm fortunate enough to work for a company that encourages community events, as I'm fanatical about donating my time to make this city a better place.
One of my favorites was the walk for Muscular Dystrophy. There was some ole cowpokes moseying along: one a sheriff, another a cowboy, and one an Indian. I'm assuming these dudes are totally into reinactments and such, but they added a nice touch to the event. It's not everyday Sheriff Johnny Law shares a cup of coffee with you.
I'm hoping I get to do some Habit for Humanity. I'm shit at building stuff, but I think my efforts would still be worthwhile.
