what do you do
when no one is watching?
what do your actions say
about your morals?

"fuck off" you say
apathetic
uncaring
"but what about love??!!" i exclaim
"eh" comes the response
as if there is none
was none
but you see
there was once
that love that you can't stand
because it makes you feel
all too human

and no one wants to feel human
we talk about it
"get in touch with your feelings" said the doctor
and the patient nods softly
not to agree
but as if to say
"you know i just can't do that"

moments past
cannot be captured again
"i think i recall..." we say
but we don't
memories faded
thoughts jaded
because we can't trust

so come on in
have a seat with me
laugh a while
about nothing in particular
because to admit feeling
remorse
love
would admit defeat

but just maybe
after a while
we will stop laughing
at look into each other's eyes
and see
really see
what is to be lost
