KINGMAN, AZ

I've seen and experienced so much in my life. I've known people of fame, wealth, and power and lived among them. I've been friends with people who were homeless, hungry, and poor and also lived among them. I've been to a Hollywood awards ceremony and I've held the hand of a dying homeless woman as she took her last breath. I've seen a KKK rally complete with burning cross and I've held a newborn baby in my arms. I've seen bombs fall from the sky and create Hell on Earth and I've known a family who gave support and comfort to an Indiana boy dying of AIDS, when everyone else was frightened by what was then a new disease. Of all these experiences and so many more, one of my favorite things in life, is watching a quiet desert sunrise.

Tell me about...
...your best date.
Mine:
A girl I knew only casually, was nominated for an Emmy award for a documentary she produced. I jokingly suggested that she take me because I look great in a Tux, she laughed it off and that was all that was said about it. The day of the Emmys I got a call from her. She got my number from a mutual friend and she asked if I would go with her. I told her that while it sounded great and I was flattered, on such short notice I wouldn't be able to get a Tux, and besides my car wasn't running. She had already called the Tux shop and left her credit card info, had borrowed a friends Mercedes, and made reservations for a late dinner at a very fancy restaurant. How could I say no to all of that? Well, unfortunately she didn't win, but it was great just to go there. We went to dinner, she even got me to dance in the piano bar. We went back to her house, where I spent the night, we didn't sleep. Shortly after sunrise, she suggested we go surf for a while, she had an extra board. When we came back, she made pancakes.
Now, if you know me at all, you understand the next part.
I never saw her again. After a first date like that I just didn't think it could get any better, so why ruin a great memory.

Now tell me yours.

That was really fucking hilarious. I like the very last line. Lots.
Are you in AZ right now?

Ahh ... I'd say some of us forget who to blame and others just pretend to forget to let things be.

Times change ... people differ. I cannot say that a relationship between her and I would work now. In fact, I know it prolly wouldn't.

But the times were right back then and I had an amazing journey.

Hence why I quite enjoy this ride they call life. So many different scenarios that work at so many different times.
