I thought this was fucking awesome and such a demonstration of the media disconnect with the political realities on the ground in this country.
Chris Matthews and his Hardball show set up this little staged fake self-fellating discussion panel to tell America how wonderful Michelle Obama is, replete with "complementary" racist asides about the Huxtable family ... and they are being drowned out in their own forum by people who aren't falling for their fucking fawning sideshow, media swoon, and coronation ceremony.
YEAH ---- IT WAS A DISGUSTING **INSIDE JOB** THAT THE FINANCIAL OLIGARCHY CARRIED OUT SEVEN YEARS AGO ---- AND IT ISN'T GOING AWAY BY HANDING THE BATON OFF TO A NEW CARRIER IN THE RELAY RACE
When I see fucking bullshit like this in an American city - It makes me cringe:

This kind of imagery has no fucking place in a nation of liberty minded people. Flattering, totem-"esque," illustrated mural portraits on high rise buildings are the mark of a society entering into or already deeply entrenched in despotic tyranny. This is an image one would expect to see in Stalin's Russia, Saddam's Iraq, Castro's Cuba, Mao's China, Khomeini's Iran, or Kim's N. Korea - Glowing paternal engraved images etched on backdropped buildings where government rallies occur.
I'll give you a clue kiddos - "Fascism" is not a top down dictatorship - if it were, no new term would have been invented to describe that political reality. It would merely be called despotism or dictatorship or monarchy etc....
Fascism is an engaged, active, self policing and enforcing ****PUBLIC**** with commonly shared values epitomized by the imagery, memes, and propaganda value of its chieftain, not the other way around. Fascism starts out liberal and populist - then swivels itself around on the social elements domestically who don't share their views. You don't need to construct a crushing right wing police state. You merely need to incorporate the citizenry to bring everyone in line and then convert the centralization of power over to a right wing police state.
Bush wasn't capable of that. He just built the spying, unitary executive legal theories, etc... the embryonic infrastructure waiting to be unleashed by the political progeny and crown inheritor that actually can incorporate and build consensus/hope in an energetic and frenzied public.
When I see the way that many of you rally behind your messianic figure - faint at his rallies - cram huge stadiums Nuremberg balcony speech style - absorb and embrace the constant fawning media bombardment and imagery - I understand. People interested in liberty don't pay homage like this. People interested in self-denial, servitude, and dehumanization do though.
That, ^^^^^^^^^^ , honestly makes me want to throw my fucking guts up.
I, now, organically understand how people became "good Germans" and how students became "Maoists leaping forward," or "Stalinists purging," or Iranian student revolutionists.
Your buttons are being pushed and you don't have the sophistication to recognize it.
