My birthday is on Thursday. Wahoo! I wanted to have lots of fun goings on with my friends over the weekend (since I have to work all day Thursday), and had already planned a few, but my parents are insisting on visiting. I told them several times that it wasn't a good weekend for me, that I had plans, etc., but my mom will not...

Happy Birthday Yesterday!
Went to go see clerks 2 today-lots of fun, and more touching than I expected. Definatly recommended.
Dear boy I picked up at the Saint last night,
You have made me one very very happy woman. Thank you!

Maaaaybe. Answer me these questions three:
1. Name one of the characters in the movie played by Ben Stiller's actual parents (or both if you know them).
2. What's the name of Mugatu's new campaign?
3. Name at least four cameo appearances thoughout the film. (You can count anyone who isn't an important character - derek, miranda, hansel, mugatu, maury, katinka...etc)
Gooood Lucky.

I need a new picture to post for my avatar. Maybe one day we can get the SGNola group rolling, and I can get a great candid.
Maybe I am just too old, but I don't understand MySpace. I mean, I understand the concept, etc., but I cannot fathom the navigation.
So this was my best mardi gras ever. Caught all of the parades, and even made it down to frenchman tues. afternoon. Hope you all had a fun and safe one as well!
I LOVE MARDI GRAS!!! It helps take my mind off of everything else. And this year, same as ever, I have waited til the very last minute to get a costume together. Any ideas?
it is still good days and bad days...my day to day life is roughly the same, but when I think about what we have lost, that is when it gets scary. and we only lost possibilities, not people or things...
I am so tired of waiting for things to get back to "normal", especially when there no end in sight. I know I would feel better if I tried to get out and meet some people (my friends are scattered around the country), but it seems like so much work. And I am not the most social creature in the best of times...

Amen.
I started a new job-boring as hell, but at least I am making some money. things are still reall odd here...

What part of New Orleans are you in? I have been working down by Chef Hwy since about 2 weeks after the hurricane. When we first got there it reminded me of war torn countries I went to when I was in the Army.
back home at last! and we even have cable! things are still kind of twilight zone here, though, with strange hours for the businesses that are open, and huge swaths of the city still without power, water, etc. we were very, very lucky.
it is good to be home!

I knew it had to happen eventually, but getting laid off was a real shock. I did not take the news well. I think that my job was the last thing holding me to the past and the NOLA that I remember. It will be kind of nice having a fresh start, but I am feeling rootless and heartbroken at the moment. At least we...
