Awwwww... shekinah and silvereve make me all blushy and red and stuff- which is quite a feat considering how dark I am! wink

This superbowl sucked. I wasn't pulling for either team really, but I think the interference call was crap and that was soooo not a touchdown. Don't get me started on the 'Stones....ew.

Tuesday is the bomb because she's putting my design on her body which makes her uber - pimp!!! (kay, don't kick my ass please)

So here is my take on the art of tattooing and why I want to be a tattoo artist.

I'm not a tattoo snob by any means. I think a person is entitled to have whatever they want inked on their body. If it's Calvin pissing on the Ford logo, so be it.

But personally, I took alot of time when choosing my first tattoo. I knew it was a permanent mark that I wanted to say something about who I was at the time. My first tattoo was a chinese dragon with the characters for "chance, destiny, wisdom, innocence, life, love, and soul." At the time I thought I was deep like that. I was only nineteen.

That tattoo has been covered up by my japanese traditional half-sleeve with reef rock, finger waves, whorl clouds, cherry blossoms, and an octopuss. When it's done, half-way down my forearm will be a japanese traditional snake with probably more finger waves.
Reef rocks = stabilty and and remaining true
Finger waves = ever changing, powerful, unrelenting (and i like the ocean)
Cherry blossoms = beauty, simplicity, change, freedom
Whorl clouds = my stormy past and present
Octopuss = ability to change, to adapt, and can blend in anywhere
(coming soon)Snake = rebirth, deadly, cautious, guarded

That's not what they mean in general but that's what they mean to me. For all I know they mean something completely different in the language of tattoo but really, when it comes down to it, it's what it means to me that's important.
And that's my point. I feel that tattoos are the ultimate form in self -expression. It's on your skin. You can't change into a different skin whenever you want. It's there forever, even in death. Sure there's lasers and such to remove them, but then why did you get it in the first place?

As a tattoo artist, or as an artist in general, I take it as a grave responsibilty and and honor that someone would allow me to put my art or entrust me to reproduce another's work on their body. So even if it's just a Tazmanian devil, I'm going to make it the best Tazmanian Devil I can. It might seem silly to me or another, but I would like to think it means something special to the person getting it.

But I take a special pleasure when it's my own art someone wants to put on their body. It's on a spiritual level for me. A custom is for you and you only. It's the ultimate in self-expression because thereis none other like it. That's why when I do a custom, I like to give the original drawing to the customer, and I'll continue this when I finish my apprenticeship. This way they know it was made special, just for them.

In tattoo there is no erasing. It's either right or wrong. Just think about that when you see an awesome sleeve or a photorealistc portrait. Give Kat Von D all the credit she is due and then some because some artists out there can't even do what she does on paper, let alone somebody's body!

I like the challenge in that. I like seeing my art on people's body as an expression of themselves. I can't put into words the emotion the I get when I see that happen. I can just tell you that it's really good. So now I don't want to just be the guy drawing them, I want to be the guy doing them too.
Patchouli Put my art on her body and a couple of others too. I am forvever greatful to them for allowing me to add my mark to their beauty!!!

Wow, that was long-winded! I'd check my spelling but I'm too lazy. I don't know if tht made sense to anyone. I kind of stream - of - conciousnessed it.
But, ya, that's why I want to become a tattoo artist. biggrin

-And just to be a dick, my ex has a LARGE tribal on her back that I drew as a cover-up. Ha! She's stuck with a large reminder of what a rad husband she once had. Her loss, my gain! tongue

============================================================

Can you feel like a child?
Can you see what I want?
I wanna run through your wicked garden
Heard thats the place to find ya
But Im alive
So alive now
I know the darkness blinds you

Can you see without eyes?
Can you speak without lies?
I wanna drink from you naked fountain
I can drown your sorrows
Im gonna burn, burn you to life now
Out of the chains that bind you

Can you see just like a child?
Can you see just what I want?
Can I bring you back to life?
Are you scared of life?

Burn, burn, burn
Burn your wicked garden down
Burn, burn, burn
Burn your wicked garden to the ground

Can you feel pain inside?
Can you love?
Can you cry?
I wanna run through your wicked garden
Heard thats the place to find you
Cause Im alive
So alive now
Out of the dark that blinds you

Can you see just like a child?
Can you see just what I want?
Can I bring you back to life?
Are you scared of life?

Burn, burn, burn
Burn your wicked garden down
Burn, burn, burn
Burn your wicked garden to the ground
