Baily helped watch Ghost while I was away in Hawaii and kept him the best of company!
In a horribly sad and tragic turn of events, Beans was mauled by a neighbor dog, almost killed, and ended up loosing an eye. The neighbor has changed her dogs name and avoided microchipping so that she could dodge this dog having, what would now be, three attacks on other dogs on its record and therefor being removed from her neglectful care and her need for taking financial accountability for the attack.
My dear friend Vanessa has had horrible luck the last year, her dog Strider died recently after a long stint with an unknown sickness, she was hit by a drunk driver leaving her in the ER and having to get her hip reconstructed and now this. She's a dog trainer herself who's already struggling and not getting any breaks despite trying her best. She had even tried to offer this owner solutions to the dogs owner before this incident. She offered training lessons, gave the owner resources for socialization, and even bought her a muzzle(that she never ended up used) after seeing the dog lunging and snapping at children walking by. The owner ended up stalking Vanessa trying to force her to let her dog play with Vanessa's. After multiple incidents where my friend told the neighbor that her dog was far too aggressive and dangerous for that kind of an interaction and to leave her and her dogs alone unless she wanted proper training classes in a controlled setting or to use any of the other resources she's given the neighbor the neighbor began hiding outside and trying to run into her and her dogs and force her into letting them interact. After a while of having to check the perimeter before taking her dogs for a walk the neighbor's dog finally got an opportunity to run away from the, again, hiding owner and attack Vanessa's dogs. So far, because of the name changing and phone dodging the neighbor has completely avoided any responsibility. I'm furious with the situation myself and doing what I can over the phone with her local humane society to have something done, but I can only do so much.
She started a crazy modest gofund me to try and help with part of Beans' vet bills not taking into account the lost work she has now, and her other sweet dogs injuries.
That being said, I know every one seems to post one of these every few days lately, but if you can spare a buck for Beans, Rhomy, and their mom Vanessa, ghost would sure appreciate your compassion! (Not to mention, it's tax deductible š)
