I also like the minimalist technique, I like that some authors can say so much in such a concise and complete way. But that is more about communicating moments. Flashes of emotion, rapid details, like when you're recalling a story to a friend. And I can appreciate and be entertained by such a story. But it is much harder to be THERE. On the other hand, the flowery verbose writing style of the earlier 20th century... WELL... good luck NOT seeing that puddle of alien urine with the soggy cigarette butt.
