Ok. 48 hours, approximately 400 miles. North to a town so small, not a traffic light (or neon light) was in view. 5 public spaces (stores, restaurants, etc.). Creepy. Vermont is pretty and creepy in a way that a state with only 600,000 people can be. Don't get me wrong, I have nothing against small towns; I voluntarily lived in Arcata, CA for 5 months one year, and loved it (it WAS a college town though) but this was so small town I wasn't quite sure what to do with myself. I've lived in, or near, big cities all my life. SF, NYC and London when I was a wee lass. I love the city but have a definate affection for the small town quiet, beauty and peacefullness. But I swear, there was something very unsettling about this town. I don't think I'll need to ever go back.
