WOOHOO!!!
I went to the first ever SG meet I've ever gone too, and it was so much fun!
I got to meet lots of cool people and I got to meet 5 amazing SG girls - one of whom was visiting from the States - and it was a great night.
First of all my greatest thanks go to Abbadon for being so kind as to be someone I knew there, and taking the time to answer my text messages and stuff, plus introducing me to all the UK members. Without him I would have been a lost lamb.
A shout out to Vix for being an entertaining host and introducing me a second time to everyone Abbadon had just introduced me to. Though not without reward, for Vix introduced me to a few more people not introduced in the first round. I just wonder if she remembers me because - as the English might express it - she was pretty bollocksed(sp?) at the time.
Cue theme music from the Twilight Zone, because a very bizarre synchronicity occured at that party. Believe it or not, Tubesound, whom I have never met online or IRL...take a deep breath now...around 18 years ago we went to the the same Primary school - Tanglin Junior School - in Singapore at the SAME TIME for at least a year!!!!. It was so much fun bringing up his memories with references to the old school logo, the uniform, the silly hymns we were made to sing in Assembly ("Dance all, wherever you may be/I am the Lord of the Dance said He/And I'll lead you all wherever you may be...."). When I get the chance, I may see if I can find an old school yearbook and see if I can find him. Gracias amigo, I owe you a drink.
Unfortunately geronimo apparently had a merciless 100 hour week and I missed, yet again, a chance to meet him. Fingers crossed for next time.
Had the pleasure of discussing websites and the holy trinity of Pratchett, Adams and Rankin with CreamyGoodness. I will an eye out for Rankin.
Oh, and everyone should meet LadyInsane. She is loads of fun and has love for everyone
Though I didn't get to chat much with her, the impression I walked away with is someone with a big heart.
I musn't forget to mention NickySonic who also helped to make me feel really welcome.
But I'm sure you're wondering who I met in terms of SG's.
Well, I got to meet the world famous Nic whom as any SGUK member will tell you (or wallop into you as case may be), is one of the sweetest people you'll ever meet, and they are right. My preferred adjective is 'disarming'. Disarmingly sweet.
I...and I am really happy about this...got to meet one of my Fav SG's! She's up at the top there at the extreme right and she's just had her set added. I got to meet Kate!!! And her friend (whom I will not name just in case she likes anonymity), is really, really cute too!
I met Nadine - Voluptuous! with a capital V - and a Limbo Girl Vicky - statuesque, a classical face like a 1940's actress or pinup girl. If you don't believe me, check out her candid pics and be sure to congratulate her when he set comes out.
I got to meet Jayne, which was a bonus, I didn't even know she was there. On top of which she is old skool SG and until I checked the site today, didn't even realise that I DO know who she is! And to add to the twilight zoney thing earlier: She knows my best friend in Seattle through another member...so it was fun to run some of my memories of Seattle and Portland with her. Especially the Fremont Bridge/ I405 (is that right Jayne?).
Oh and last and certainly not least was Brogan, who is a Limbo Girl as well I believe, and who came a very long way to party with us and is friends with LadyInsane. And hey WOW! She knows Llona! One of my Faves!!!

Honorable mentions must go to munch, whom anybody who is anybody in SGUK, should know. heard nothing but good things and a shame I didn't get to talk to him. And Kinto_mE whom I was introduced to twice by Vix and Abbadon and both say good things about him too. Again, a shame not to have gotten to chat with him but as he admits in his own posts, he was just too pissed to use the old vocal cords in a extended and meaningful connective manner.

If I forgot anyone, I'm really sorry, those are who stick out in my mind. I feel odd mentioning anyone I didn actually exchange words with....this doesn't count with the SG girls because frankly, it's bragging rights
I really...REALLY regret not bringing a camera to induce mass jealousy with.

nickysonic:
Nice to meet you and your highly confusing accent. Always a pleasure to welcome someone as nice as you into the bosom of SGUK.

I guess you can met a lot of cool UK SGers if you're... not stuck in America. Sounds like fun.
