"I like your twisted point of view, Mike
I like your questioning eyebrows
You've made it pretty clear what you like
It's only fair to tell you now
that I leave early in the morning
and I won't be back till next year
I see that kiss-me pucker forming
but maybe you should plug it with a beer"
- Magnetic Fields "Papa Was A Rodeo"

Epitaph For A Tire

Yesterday was fun. Onie called me up and asked if I wanted to jaunt out to Smyrna with her to have lunch with her and Lauren, then pop into All or Nothing Tattoo to talk to Dave Tedder. I jumped on the opportunity to get out of the apartment for a while. So she picked me up and we were on our way.

We'd only gotten as far as the Northside exit on 75 when her front right tire disintigrated. It was completely gone except for a little bit of rubber hanging on the the edges of the wheel. In true Capricorn fashion, Onie laughed about it and didn't even flinch as she went about changing the tire. I offered to help, but she waved me away so I just took pictures so she'd have a memento of her first time changing a tire. So it was actually kind of fun to be stuck there a while. That is what I love most about Capricorns, I think. Their ability to make situations that most other people would stress out in into something enjoyable. It's hard to keep a Capricorn down.

Anyway, we went about our merry way. Onie introduced me to an intriguing band called The Magnetic Fields. We picked up Lauren and popped over to a Mexican joint called La Tequila. It was pretty decent grub, though there was something weird about the meat that I couldn't quite put my finger on. We pretty much rushed through eating since Lauren only had a half hour for lunch, but it was nice to get to hang out with her a little bit.

After lunch, we dropped Lauren back off at work and continued on to All or Nothing Tattoo. I got to pull baby duty managing Onie's son while she talked to Mr. Tedder. She was good most of the time, but during the last ten minutes he started really spazzing out. I couldn't give him back to Onie as she'd poofed into thin air. So I just walked around with him outside until she reappeared and then we left out of there.

On the way home, something odd happened. We were heading south on 75 when a bunch of cops formed a line across the highway and they barricaded traffic down to 5 miles per hour for no apparant reason. Onie suggested that someone had dropped a donut and they were looking for it. After about fifteen minutes the cops suddenly took off (maybe they found the donut) and normal traffic resumed. The funny thing is that if we'd been just a minute quicker we would have missed being stuck behind the line of crawling police cars. Things are never quite normal with Onie around.

Anyway, when she got us back to my apartment we had a nice little chat before she went on her way. I went inside, cuddled with Wyspurr, and went to sleep.

I think I have been successful at resetting my sleeping patterns to something more normal. I'd only gotten about two hours of sleep Monday morning then tried to stay up all of Tuesday until I got home from my outting with Onie. I got about eight hours of sleep and woke up at five this morning. Good enough for me. I hope it sticks. The only thing I hate is that I've hardly gotten to talk to Brenda at all the past couple of days and that makes me a sad panda.
