Dark Horse Training, Third Night
I think Wyspurr and I are going to need a concubine. Someone that could hold down the home front for us while we work in exchange for having her basic needs provided for would be really damned helpful right about now. It's too bad we don't know any single or poly, childless women who'd find that to be a desirable arrangement that we know well enough to be trustworthy and essentially being a nanny to our children isn't something I'd let just any chick I found on the internet do. I wonder if any of our friends could recommend anyone. Doubt it.
Anyway, things went fairly well at my third night of training at The Dark Horse Tavern. I worked with Dark Jason and Dark Mike, closing with the latter. I'm starting to get the hang of things, except for the fact that I haven't gotten any real training on the actual grill. I'm going to have to learn shit like Tequila Chicken if I'm going to be able to handle soloing in the kitchen, which is what I'll be doing when my training is over after tomorrow.
In other work related news, Dark Kelly apparently got over the poly thing and things were back to normal between us. When I first saw her at work she seemed a bit stand-offish, but then she saw the patch I'd pinned to my hat which said "I *heart* tater tots" and cracked up and after that we were back to joking around and bantering for the rest of the night.
That patch was a real big hit with the Dark Horse staff. Everyone got a big laugh out of it, as tater tots have kind of a life of their own at The Dark Horse. It has already well surpassed the three dollars I spent on it in entertainment value. That's one of the things I like most about this job. Being able to have fun with it. I can count the moments I got a good laugh in the several months I was working at the Einstein Bros on Howell Mill Rd on one hand. I did have a little fun working at the Einstein Bros on 14th Street, but no where near as much fun as I have working at The Dark Horse.
On a serious note, I'm going to have to cut down on the tater tots. I love the things and having a nearly unlimited supply of them to snack on (and we don't even have to sneak around about it like eating anything at all at Einstein Bros) is going to make me fat if I'm not careful. Especially since I'm highly vulnerable to boredom eating, and there are definitely a lot of boring stretches working there. I've been trying to counter all the extra tater-tot calories by only drinking water instead of Coke at work but I don't think that's going to be enough.
