Another Weekend Summarized

Friday, I did nothing. Ocean and Stitch stood us up for babysitting for the second night in a row, so to have gone anywhere I'd have had to go alone. The only thing I knew of going on was some of the SGATLiens going out dancing and I definitely didn't want to go to that without Wyspurr. I was feeling really restless, though, so I was going to pop down to Little Five Pizza for a slice just to get out of the house, but right when I stepped out the door it started pouring rain. I wouldn't have minded walking through the rain but I didn't want to get to the pizza place and have to sit for a half hour or more in soggy clothes. So I just stayed home and did nothing.

Saturday morning was one of the best days at work I'd had in a long time. It wasn't too busy and it wasn't too slow. It was just right.

Saturday evening, Ocean and Stitch finally made it over to watch the kids so that Wyspurr and I could go out together. Wyspurr and katfireblade started the evening out by joining their Atlanta Rollergirls pals at the Star Bar and I joined them about an hour later when Ocean and Stitch finally showed up. We drank a few beers, stayed for the Cogburn's set. They were fun. Then we went home to try to figure out how meet up with the other SGATLiens at the Pink Pony.

While Wyspurr called people to figure out what was going on and got directions for shit, I preoccupied myself chatting with Onie. She couldn't come out to the Pink Pony get together because she didn't have a sitter, but she invited us to join her family for dinner at R. Thomas before we went to the strip joint. Wyspurr, katfireblade, and I were in unanimous agreement about accepting said invitation and so off we were.

After I got us horribly lost trying to find R. Thomas, the three of us finally met up with Onie and her crew (her husband, her podling, and one of her friends). We had a good meal with great company. By the time we parted company it was about closing time for the Pink Pony so we never did make it there.

I went to work Sunday morning without any sleep. I wasn't too tired anyway, but it ended up being a really busy day and because Valerie called out again I ended up being pulled away from baking every so often to play cashier. That is a small form of Hell. Baking is a non-stop kind of thing...I don't get a break and it never lets up. Any duties that get piled on top of that means getting behind. So all at once I have to deal with customers and bust ass baking in double time. On the bright side, I didn't have to deal with coworkers getting pissy with me about being behind on the bagels because aside from a couple of time we never actually ran out of anything. Granted, there was a lot of "They'll be out of the oven in just a minute." moments, but what can you expect when you keep me saddled to a register a fourth of the time? The fact that I kept up at all under such circumstances is explanation enough for why Chris practically made whining noises when I tried to put in my notice.

For a job that only pays me a hundred bucks a week after deductions, being weekend baker is pretty demanding. Having to be at work at four in the morning, working eight to nine hours straight without getting a break, often having to pick up the slack from co-workers calling out, never being able to call out sick myself because I'm too important to the operation of the whole resturant. I really deserve more than $7.50 an hour.

I really didn't do anything after work Sunday. I mostly just used it to catch up on sleep and think a lot about the various changes I need to make to my life. I'll talk more about that stuff later.
